HH Catamarans

HH Catamarans was founded in 2012 by Paul Hakes, a New Zealand builder of carbon race boats, and Hudson Wang, a Chinese industrialist who has put some fifty million dollars behind the venture — top-flight carbon construction at Asian production cost, from yards in Xiamen, China and Cebu, Philippines. The big HH50 to HH66 built the brand's reputation among performance-cat buyers; the HH44 packaged the formula into the most popular size and wrapped it in a hybrid-electric skin, sweeping the 2024 boat-of-the-year awards.

The company has since lived through a founder's exit — Hakes left in 2024 to start the rival Shift Yachts — and the model line's evolution into the HH46. The used market for these boats is only now being born, and it is already more complicated than the awards suggested.
