Malö

Malö Yachts builds heavy cruising yachts in Kungsviken on the island of Orust, Sweden's boatbuilding island, where Hallberg-Rassy, Najad and Regina are neighbours. The Olsson family ran the yard from the 1960s until 2008; the late range, from the 37 to the 47, was drawn by Leif Ängermark to one philosophy: an aft cockpit behind a fixed windscreen, mahogany below, twelve millimetres of solid teak on deck, and every boat built to its customer's specification. The yard never chased volume, and the used market still shows it: no two Malös are alike.

In 2024 the yard's operating company, Sweden Yachts Group, collapsed into bankruptcy, and in 2025 its owner was sentenced to prison; the brand and the yard survive in other hands, with production continuing at small scale. For owners of the existing fleet, support runs through the Malöklubben owners' club and the independent Orust specialists rather than the factory.
